ASEAN-Korea Centre dispatches Investment and Market Research Mission to Manila, Philippines

The ASEAN-Korea Centre dispatched an investment and market research mission in the infrastructure and energy sectors to Manila, Philippines on 22-24 February 2016 in collaboration with the Board of Investments (BOI) of the Philippines. Approximately 15 mission delegates, which consist of Korean businessmen in the relevant sectors sought the new investment opportunities in the infrastructure and energy sectors in Philippines which has been remarkably growing with the growing government spending and massive projects. 


On 23 February, the ASEAN-Korea Centre held the Philippines-Korea Investment Forum in cooperation with the Board of Investments (BOI) of Philippines in Manila, Philippines. The Forum was inaugurated by the remarks of Kim Young-sun, Secretary General of the ASEAN-Korea Centre, Ceferino Rodolfo, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Trade and Investment, and Kwon Won-jik, Minister of the Embassy of the ROK to the Philippines. Through the Forum, which was held as part of the Investment and Market Research Mission to the Philippines, Korean businessmen and other relevant officials could gain more practical and specific information on the investment climate in the Philippines. Also, through the one-on-one business meetings with their business counterparts and officials from the related organizations in the Philippines, the delegates were offered networking-building opportunities.

In order to gain first-hand information on the investment climate in the sectors of infrastructure and energy, the delegates visited various industrial sites such as the RASLAG solar power plant, the Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC), and sites of major infrastructure projects such as the NAIA Expressway and the Daang Hari Express Way. 


The delegates also met with officials from the relevant organizations such as the Embassy of ROK to the Philippines, the Korea EXIM Bank, and the Korean Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines, and Korean businessmen in the Philippines in order to share information on the business climate in the country and build the business network.
