ASEAN-Korea Centre organized the ´2018 ASEAN-Korea Youth Network Workshop´ on 2-6 July in Korea and 7-11 July in the Philippines under the theme of ´ASEAN and Korean Youth as Drivers of Global Digitalization.´ On 6 July, the Closing Ceremony of the Korea Program took place at the ASEAN-Korea Centre in Seoul. It was attended by around 60 youth from the 10 ASEAN Member States, Korea, China, and Japan; Lee Hyuk, Secretary General of the ASEAN-Korea Centre; Khamsouay Keodalavong, Lao Ambassador to Korea; Long Dimanche, Cambodian Ambassador to Korea; Nguyen Vu Tu, Vietnamese Ambassador to Korea; and other officials from ASEAN Embassies in Korea. During the event, awards were given to the teams who created excellent videos under the topic of ´Digitalization of Korea´ and gave outstanding cultural performances. It was followed by remarks by Indonesian and Korean participants who expressed their gratitude on behalf of all participants.
In his remarks of appreciation, the Indonesian participant Muhammad Afi Ramadhan said, "Five days ago, we gathered here in Seoul with eagerness to discover digitalization at its best. We the youth are the focal point and spotlight of digitalization as a digital technology user and developer of the system. Through this program, I learnt about ´pro-innovation bias,´ – the belief that all new innovations are good is a threat to the brain ware, – which helped me realize that opportunities and threats of digitalization are inseparable and dependent like the two sides of coins. I was also certain that young participants with whom I have been staying over the past 5 days will be the main drivers of global digitalization in the era of digitalization in the next five or ten years."
