The ASEAN-Korea Centre hosted a roundtable discussion on mutual perceptions of youths from both regions, who are the future leaders of the ASEAN-Korea Partnership, and live-streamed on the Centre’s YouTube Channel on Wednesday, January 26th, 2022. At the Roundtable, which was held under the theme of ‘Raising Mutual Awareness for Sustainable Relations between ASEAN and Korea,’ the experts of education, people-to-people exchanges, and media from ASEAN Secretariat, ASEAN Foundation, National Institute for International Education (NIIED), Centre’s research team, Channel News Asia (CNA), and Korea JoongAng Daily (KJD) joined the discussions.
As in-person people-to-people exchanges between ASEAN and Korean youths have been limited due to the impact of COVID-19 over the past two years, the roundtable underlined the roles of the media and SNS. In particular, the experts exchanged opinions on the importance and future direction of the media in forming positive perceptions and ways to enhance mutual perceptions among youths of both regions through education and people-to-people exchanges, such as studying abroad.
