The ASEAN-Korea Centre (AKC) in collaboration with the Council of ASEAN Professors in Korea (CAPK) organized a research capacity-building workshop for CAPK members on June 25, and also supported the convening of the CAPK 2022 Annual Meeting on June 26.

With an aim to encourage research on ASEAN-Korea relations and increase awareness on ASEAN-Korea relations, twenty professors and PhD students from across Korea participated in the workshop which provided lectures on recent research trends in publications on ASEAN-Korea relations, on quantitative analysis, as well as on the developments in ASEAN-Korea relations. The workshop also included a session for participants to discuss and present ideas for research topics on ASEAN-Korea relations.

Additionally, thirty-five CAPK members also joined the CAPK 2022 Annual Meeting on June 26 which was held in a hybrid format. In the meeting, the ASEAN-Korea Centre introduced its initiatives in 2022, particularly on people-to-people exchange-related activities and shared the results of the CAPK annual database survey conducted earlier this year. CAPK further discussed its way forward in strengthening the CAPK network and exchanged ideas on the role of ASEAN scholars through academic engagements and outreach.
