Kim Young-sun, Secretary General of the ASEAN-Korea Centre visited Myanmar on 28-30 September 2016. 

Secretary General delivered the Keynote Speech at the 2016 Korea-Myanmar Connectivity Forum held in Yangon on 29 September 2016. “Korea-Myanmar relations should be developed into a long lasting strategic partnership.” He added that for such relationship, the partnership must be based on trust, mutually beneficial, experience-sharing, and have a common vision. 

On 30 September, the Secretary General met with U Thant Sin Maung, Union Minister of Transport and Communications of Myanmar to discuss regional connectivity issues. The Minister confirmed that day that he will take part in the 4th ASEAN Connectivity Forum to be held in Seoul on 8 November.
