The ASEAN-Korea Centre, together with the Maekyung Media Group and the KOTRA, organized the Maekyung Thailand Forum at Kempinski Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand on 17 May 2018. In his welcoming remarks, Lee Hyuk, Secretary General of the ASEAN-Korea Centre noted, "This year, Korea and Thailand celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relation. With the Korean government´s ´New Southern Policy´ and the Thai government´s ´Thailand 4.0´ initiative, economic cooperation between the two countries is expected to be further deepened. I hope this Forum provides opportunities for Korea and Thailand to share experiences, knowledge, and visions, thus to have substantial discussion for a closer partnership.”
The Forum was attended by 350 government officials and business leaders including Somkit Jatusripitak, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Industry, Minister of Digital Economy and Society, Minster Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office, and Secretary General of the Board of Investments (BOI) from Thailand, as well as Paik Un-gyu, Minister of Trade, Industry, and Energy, Chang Dae-whan, Chairman of the Maekyung Media Group, Kwon Pyung-oh, President and CEO of the KOTRA, Noh Kwang-il, Ambassador of Korea to Thailand, and Kim Young-ju, Chairman of the Korea International Trade Association from Korea.
