The 9th Connectivity Forum

ASEAN-Korea Centre (Secretary General Kim Hae-yong) held the 9th Connectivity Forum in a webinar format on 18-19 January 2022. (website: https://acf.aseankorea.org)

 

In the opening ceremony, H.E. Kim Hae-yong, Secretary General of ASEAN Korea Centre, Park Sun-ho, Chairman of the International Contractors Association of Korea, H.E. Pg Hjh Nooriyah PLW Pg hj Yussof, Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam and Chair of ASEAN Committee in Seoul delivered remarks on the importance of the cooperation between ASEAN and Korea in infrastructure development after the pandemic.

Keynote speech was delivered by H.E. Lee Seong-ho, Deputy Minister for Economic Affairs of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Korea on Korea’s role and contribution to ASEAN Connectivity. H.E. Yeap Samnang, Chair of ASEAN Connectivity Coordinating Committee and Permanent Representative of Kingdom of Cambodia to ASEAN, also introduced ASEAN Connectivity and recent progress.

In the following panel discussion, Lim Chze Cheen, Director and Head of ASEAN Connectivity Division of ASEAN Secretariat, Ruhimat Soerakoesoemah, Head of Sub-Regional Office for South East Asia of UNESCAP, Jin Jae-young, Korea Head of Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency(MIGA), and Um Sung-yong, Director General of Export-Import Bank of Korea discussed on Leveraging ASEAN connectivity in the post pandemic world.

On 19 January, government officials from 9 ASEAN member states presented major projects and progress in transport, energy, and smart city sector. ASEAN-Korea Programme Management Team also presented opportunities in ASEAN-ROK Cooperation Fund (AKCF) to Korean businesses
