On 9 January 2017, the ASEAN-Korea Tourism Capacity Building Workshop was held in Davao, the Philippines, together with the Philippine Department of Tourism. Under the theme, ‘Branding Davao as a Competitive MICE Destination’, the Workshop was organized to strengthen the capacity of Philippine tourism professionals as well as to support the development of Philippine tourism industry, especially focusing on MICE industry, helping to provide demand-driven tourism products and services to Korean travelers.
The Workshop sessions delivered by Korean experts were themed ‘To be a Competitive MICE Destination’, ‘Marketing MICE: Online Promotion’, ‘Korean Culture: Insights on Korean Tourists’, and ‘Changing Trends of Korean Travelers’. Approximately 120 tourism professionals from both private and public sector attended the Workshop to better understand the characteristics and needs of Korean tourists and their changing trends through lectures, so that Davao could be appealed to a larger population of Korean general tourists as well as Korean MICE clients.
