The 20th ASEAN Lecture Series, themed ‘Multiculturalism and Diversity’, held its second lecture in the ASEAN Hall at the ASEAN-Korea Centre (AKC) on 25 October 2018.
Prior to the lecture, guests were given the opportunity to enjoy Filipino food like “Pancit”, a type of stir-fried noodles, and “Kwek-kwek”, which are quail eggs deep fried with orange batter.
Following this, Ms. Jang Ju-young, Research Fellow at the IOM Migration Research and Training Centre (MRTC) then gave a lecture on the topic “Social Integration in a Multicultural Society”. With about 2 million foreigners living in South Korea, Ms. Jang talked about the importance of being culturally competent, to know how to respect and understand the diverse cultures found within the society to achieve social harmony.
