The ASEAN-Korea Centre (Secretary General Kim Young-sun) dispatched an investment and Market Research Mission to Manila, Philippines from 29 to 30 January in collaboration with the Board of Investment (BOI). The Mission, which is composed of Korean businesses in the sectors of infrastructure (construction and energy), aimed to scale up Korean infrastructure investment into the Philippines and facilitate establishment of networks among Korean and Filipino businessmen.

The mission participated in the Philippine-Korea Investment Promotion Seminar which was held on 30 January at Sofitel Hotel in Manila. Officials from the Board of Investments (BOI), the Department of Public Works and Highways, the PPP Center, and the Department of Energy introduced business opportunities in the sectors of infrastructure and energy as well as legal framework for foreign participation in the Philippine PPP Programs. An expert from the International Contractors Association of Korea also shared best practices and experiences of Korea’s infra development. As part of the program, the Mission introduced their main interests, and had 1:1 meeting with their Filipino counterparts.
