ASEAN-Korea Centre organized the ASEAN-Korea Tourism Capacity Building Workshop in Singapore on 16 May and in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia on 19 May, respectively.

The Workshop aimed to strengthen competitiveness of the tourism industry in Singapore and Malaysia with a view to better targeting and attracting the Korean tourists to the two countries by enhancing understanding about the distinct characteristics of Korean tourists and tourism market. Korean tourism experts will give lectures on the themes of ‘Characteristics of Korean Tourists’, ‘Customizing Singapore Market to Korean Tourists’, and ‘Online Tourism Promotion’ to the local tourism stakeholders such as tour guides, tourism agencies and offices.

In order to enhance competitiveness of the tourism industries in the 10 ASEAN Member States, the ASEAN-Korea Centre has organized the ASEAN-Korea Tourism Capacity Building Workshop since its inception in 2009. What made the Workshop more meaningful was the topical sessions under the specific theme chosen based on the needs of the respective country. For these Workshops, the lecturers will give detailed information and suggestions on the use of online and social media platforms in Singapore as well as Korean customized tourism products in Malaysia.
