The 20th ASEAN Lecture Series, themed ‘Multiculturalism and Diversity’, held its fourth lecture in the ASEAN Hall at the ASEAN-Korea Centre (AKC) on 8 November 2018.
Prior to the lecture, guests were given the opportunity to enjoy traditional Laotian food like ‘Khao Jee’, which is a type of baguette sandwich filled with vegetables and moo yor (pork lunchmeat), and ‘Khao Sang Kha Gna’, a type of sticky rice typically served as dessert.
Following this, Mr. Lee Kee-woong, Research Professor at Sungkonghoe University, Institute for East Asian Studies gave a lecture on the topic “Asian Pop: From the Margin to the World”.
In this lecture, Professor Lee touched upon how Asian Pop is no longer just localised in the Asian region but has now gained unprecedented growth with a global reach and influence. The relevance and implications of this phenomenon on Korea’s music culture was also considered in the context of the 21st Century.
