ASEAN HALL [COMPLETED] 2019.11.01 ~ 2019.11.30
With the aim of increasing awareness and understanding about ASEAN and mutual understanding among the youths of Korea and ASEAN, ASEAN-Korea Centre (AKC) has regularly conducted the ASEAN School Tour and Youth Visit
Program at the ASEAN Hall. The ASEAN School Tour Program invites Elementary School, Middle School, and High School level students from Korea and Southeast Asian Countries.
During the month of November 2019, AKC received 127 students from 4 schools in the ASEAN School Tour Program. The students learned about ASEAN as a whole, why ASEAN is important to Korea, prospects of ASEAN-Korea relations and the roles and activities of ASEAN-Korea Centre. This month, for the UM Labschool Malang, Indonesia, the AKC conducted a special lecture on raising awareness on ASEAN Connectivity and ASEAN Community.
As part of the ASEAN School Tour Program, the students also enjoyed partaking in various cultural activities such as singing traditional songs, making ASEAN posters etc.
Date(s): November 5, November 6, November 15, and November 25 (Total: 4 Sessions)
School Participants: Shindong Middle School, Gocheok Middle School, Cheongwun Middle School, and UM Labschool Malang High School (Indonesia).
Under the Ministry of Education’s initiative, ‘Ggoomgil’, the AKC has been mandated to increase the level of ASEAN Awareness between Korean Students. AKC’s ASEAN School Tour Program provides students, not only for Koreans but also students from all ASEAN Member States, with the opportunity to experience cultural aspects of ASEAN Member States and gives a glimpse of what a potential career at an intergovernmental organization for the future desired jobs.
Held all year-round at the ASEAN Hall of the AKC, 2019 ASEAN School Tour Program consists of diverse educational parts: △ ASEAN Talk with AKC’s ASEAN Officials seconded to the AKC, △ Special Lecture on International Organization and career experience, △ ASEAN Quiz Contest, △ Creative cultural activities, etc.
