Korea to boost investment in the Singapore’s Robot Industry

- ASEAN-Korea Centre to send investment mission to Singapore (18-20 July) -

Seoul, Republic of Korea - The ASEAN-Korea Centre (Secretary General Kim Young-sun), an international organization mandated to promote economic and socio-cultural cooperation between ASEAN Member States and Korea will send an investment and market research mission of Korean businessmen in the robot industry to Singapore on 18-20 July 2016.

The mission program aims to provide potential Korean investors with latest information on the investment environment and opportunities in the robot industry in Singapore. As part of this effort, the Forum on Singapore’s Investment Opportunities in the Robot Industry will be held at the Boardroom (B1F), Fullerton Hotel in Singapore on 18 July. In the Opening Session, Kim Young-sun, Secretary General of the ASEAN-Korea Centre will attend to deliver his remarks. In the following session, representatives from the Singapore Economic Development Board, will give briefings on current status of Singapore’s robot industry and relevant government policies to the Korean delegates.

In order to gain first-hand information on the investment climate in Singapore’s robot industry in Singapore, the Korean delegates will also visit various industrial sites such as the Changi General Hospital, the Singapore Industrial Automation Association (SIAA) and e2i, and the Changi Airport Group. The visit to the SIAA is particularly special in that business matching opportunities with over 60 participants from 37 member companies in robot and automation industries will be offered to the Korean delegates. Given that the SIAA is the biggest association of over 500 companies in the fields, this would provide a meaningful platform for the delegates to gain more practical information for expanding their business to Singapore.

Kim Young-sun, Secretary General of the ASEAN-Korea Centre noted that, “With the ‘Smart Nation’ initiative driven by the Singapore government with an aim to become a smart nation by adopting technology that could enhance the connectivity and efficiency of the nation, the robot industry in Singapore has shown steady growth. As Korea has the fourth largest robot market in the world with 2.6 billion USD market value and 12% of annual growth rate, cooperation between Korea and Singapore in robot industry would create a synergy effect for both countries. I wish this mission program would serve as a platform for boosting Korean investment in Singapore’s robot industry, thus contributing towards mutually beneficial relations between the two countries.”
