ASEAN Contents to be showcased at largest cultural content exhibition in Korea
- Content products from 9 ASEAN countries to be exhibited at the ‘ACE Fair 2020 (Nov. 5-8)’ ?

Seoul, Korea - The ASEAN-Korea Centre will organize the ‘ASEAN Contents Showcasing 2020’ on 5-8 November during one of the largest cultural content fairs in Korea, the ‘Asia Content & Entertainment Fair (ACE Fair) 2020’. This is the third program organized by the ASEAN-Korea Centre this year focusing on cultural content cooperation, and this time, visitors will be able to enjoy various content products ranging from animation, webtoon, characters and games of 9 ASEAN Member States (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam) which will be displayed at the upcoming fair.
In addition to the showcase, participating companies will also seek cooperation with Korean companies during the 1:1 online business meetings. Starting from 5 to 20 November, ASEAN companies from a wide range of contents sectors will explore business cooperation in the areas of co-production, licensing, investment, distribution, and etc, with their Korean counterparts through virtual meetings.
Lee Hyuk, Secretary General of the ASEAN-Korea Centre noted that “The contents industry of ASEAN has shown phenomenal growth over the past five years, recording an annual growth rate of over 8% every year. The region’s high preference for K-pop and K-drama has also led to increased cooperation between contents companies of ASEAN and Korea in various forms such as co-production, investment, and distribution. The two regions have also seen even greater potential for business collaborations with the growth of OTT platforms and the webtoon industry. ASEAN contents sector, with its young and tech savvy workforce, diverse cultural elements, and competitive outsourcing service, is surely gaining momentum in the global contents sector. In this regard, the ASEAN Contents Showcasing will introduce the diversity and competitiveness of the ASEAN contents industry to the Korean market and provide a platform for ASEAN and Korean contents companies to create new business opportunities.
The ASEAN-Korea Centre has held various programs aimed to facilitate business cooperation in the contents sector. The Indonesia-Korea Animation Industry Cooperation Forum was held last February in Jakarta, in which 12 Korean delegation representing Korea’s contents sector participated. The ASEAN-Korea Online Contents Business Matchmaking Program was also held in July and August in conjunction with Korea’s largest international contents market, ‘Seoul Promotion Plan (SPP) 2020’, where 9 ASEAN Member States (except for Lao PDR) participated. A total of 581 business meetings were held, with 3 MOUs and contracts signed on site.
