The ASEAN-Korea Centre to offer a virtual tour to ASEAN for those longing to travel to ASEAN

Seoul, Korea - The ASEAN-Korea Centre (Secretary-General Lee Hyuk), in collaboration with the 10 ASEAN countries, produced diverse digital contents to present a virtual tour and experience of ASEAN amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Following the success of the month-long ‘2020 ASEAN Culture and Tourism showcase: The NEXT ASEAN’ held last November, the Centre has prepared for the public a variety of contents that include: the ‘ASEAN Fam-tour 2020’ video, introducing ASEAN’s tourist attractions with K-Culture representative Kim Jun-su; the ASEAN Travel Webpage, providing comprehensive information on ASEAN travel such as the region’s culture, history, food, and tourist attractions; and the ‘ASEAN Culture and Culinary Artbook,’ featuring representative dishes as well as the traditional and contemporary lifestyle of each ASEAN country.
[ASEAN Fam-tour 2020]
The ‘ASEAN Fam-tour 2020’ video was produced in collaboration with the tourism promotion offices of Malaysia, Philippines, and Thailand and is intended to allow the Korean public to experience ASEAN’s travel destinations at ease, while enticing joyful memories from their past trips. In particular, Korea’s representative Hallyu star Kim Jun-su participated as a narrator to introduce the attractive destinations of each country. The videos will be released on the ASEAN-Korea Centre’s YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/akcsns) and the ASEAN tourism offices’ official channels from 15 to 19 February, and an online event for the viewers will also be offered.

The ‘ASEAN Travel Webpage’ is a comprehensive digital platform that not only provides information on the travel destinations of the 10 ASEAN countries, but also features various cultural and tourism content of each country. Comprised of information on travel destinations, food, festivals, national holidays, history as well as feature articles on tourist sites and activities including those on less discovered attractions, the webpage provides a one-stop “library” service for those planning trips to ASEAN.
[ASEAN Culture and Culinary Artbook, Stories Around the Table: ASEAN Soul Food and Lifestyle]
The ‘ASEAN Culture and Culinary Artbook’ introduces the culinary culture and lifestyle of the 10 ASEAN countries. Catering to the growing enthusiasm and fascination for ASEAN culture in Korea, the book tells stories of food, travel, traditions, and local cultures through the words of the Ambassadors and their spouses of the 10 ASEAN countries. Featured in the 220-page book are ASEAN soul foods, must-travel destinations, unique cultural items, and pictures of special spots in the Ambassadors’ residences. The readers are invited to take a unique journey into ASEAN through the vivid photos and lively interviews.
Secretary General Lee Hyuk noted, “the diverse contents offered by the ASEAN-Korea Centre will allow viewers and readers to experience ASEAN in a whole new way. In particular, I hope the photos, videos, and stories offers some comfort to many Koreans who are longing to travel to Southeast Asia.”
