Seoul, Korea - The ASEAN-Korea Centre (Secretary General Lee Hyuk), together with the Hyundai Research Institute, will organize the 19th ASEAN Lecture Series entitled ‘The Road to ASEAN Market: Cases of Korean Companies in ASEAN.’ The lectures will be held every Thursday from 17 May to 28 June 2018 at the ASEAN Hall in Seoul. They will feature Korean business leaders and ASEAN specialists who will share best practices and strategies for entering the ASEAN market. Registration for the series of seven lectures, which are open to the public, is currently available on the ASEAN-Korea Centre website (http://www.aseankorea.org).

Lee Hyuk, Secretary General of the ASEAN-Korea Centre, said, “ASEAN has long positioned itself as a promising investment destination with the world’s third-largest population, average GDP growth of 5%, and the rising number of middle class. However, Korean SMEs who wish to make headway into the ASEAN market are often faced with difficulties in getting the latest investment information or finding reliable local partners. In this regard, the upcoming ASEAN Lecture Series will increase public understanding of business opportunities in ASEAN and provide entrepreneurs with necessary information and networking opportunities.”

The lectures will cover the following topics: ‘Economic Trends and Prospects of ASEAN’; ‘Introduction and Current Status of ASEAN Contents Market’; ‘Korean SME’s Management Status in Southeast Asia’; ‘Industry 4.0 and Growing ASEAN E-commerce Market’; ‘ASEAN, Investment Strategy Especially in Cambodia’; ‘Vietnamese Law and Success Cases that Investors Must Know’; and ‘Case Study of Foreign Company’s Real Estate Development in Myanmar.’

The invited lecturers will be as follows: Shin Min-geum (KIEP); Lee Choon-keun (Korea Creative Content Agency); Cheong Jae-wan (KIEP); Bok Dug-gyou (KOTRA); Lee Chang-hoon (Hyundai Corporation Holdings); Kim Yu-ho (Baker McKenzie Law Firm); and Lim Seon-kyu (Daewoo Amara).

In the past two years, the ASEAN-Korea Centre has been hosting the ASEAN Lecture Series on digital economy in 2017 and lifestyle in 2016 under the umbrella theme of ‘Korean Business Venturing into New Opportunities in ASEAN.’ As a biannual event, the next ASEAN Lecture Series will take place later this year to promote the understanding of various aspects of ASEAN.
