The ASEAN-Korea Centre (Secretary General Kim Hae-yong) will organize the '2023 ASEAN-Korea Youth Network Workshop' under the theme of 'Youth Shaping the Future: Building Enhanced Perceptions among Youths and Innovating Changes in Tourism' from July 18 to 26 in Seoul, Korea and Da Nang, Vietnam. Through recommendation from the ASEAN Embassies in Korea and the open application process for Korean and ASEAN students in Korea, a total of 48 undergraduate and graduate students will come together for the workshop.
During the 10-days workshop, participants will engage in various activities including attending lectures on ASEAN-Korea relations, ASEAN Community, mutual understanding among the youths, as well as learning about innovative and sustainable tourism. Participants will also conduct visits to institutions and fieldwork sites in both cities, cooperate with each other through team assignments, engage in cultural exchanges, and foster friendship based on enhanced mutual awareness.
Meanwhile, the Korean program (July 18 – 22) is co-organized with Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS) and the Vietnam program (July 23- 26) with Duy Tan University.
Secretary General Kim Hae-yong of the ASEAN-Korea Centre noted that “as mentioned in the Roundtable on Survey on Mutual Perceptions of ASEAN and Korean Youth that was conducted early this year, creating arena for the youths of ASEAN and Korea to share their thoughts and experience is crucial. I hope through the 10-days workshop, the 48 ASEAN and Korean youths will create memories and share knowledge, and most of all increase their understanding about one another and become true friends”. The Workshop has been held annually since 2013 but was suspended during COVID-19 and resumed this year for the first time in 3 years. It will be organized in ASEAN and Korea every year with diverse themes that are in line with major global agendas.
