ASEAN game products to attract buyers at the largest game exhibition in Korea
- ASEAN-Korea Centre to set up booths for ASEAN firms at G-STAR 2018 (15-17 Nov, Busan, Korea) -
Busan, Korea – The ASEAN-Korea Centre (Secretary General Lee Hyuk) will set up booths for ASEAN game firms at the Global Game Exhibition G-STAR from 15 to 17 November 2018 at the Busan Exhibition & Convention Center (BEXCO), Busan, Korea. 35 game companies from 7 countries – Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam – will showcase a wide selection of game products to Korean and international buyers.
Lee Hyuk, Secretary General of the ASEAN-Korea Centre noted, “With increasing smartphone penetration and improving internet infrastructure, ASEAN’s game industry has seen the fastest growth in the world. As Korea has the world’s fourth largest game market with its revenue projected to reach 5.6 billion USD by the end of 2018, many ASEAN game firms are eager to penetrate into the Korean market and find Korean partners for collaborations. This year’s exhibition will be participated by the largest number of companies, which shows such high interests from the ASEAN side. I hope this exhibition program will provide a platform for ASEAN companies with quality products to make inroads in the Korean market, thus contributing to greater service trade between ASEAN and Korea.”
From 15 to 17 November, 35 ASEAN game companies will showcase their software products such as online, mobile, video, board, and console game as well as related hardware. The G-STAR is the largest game exhibition in Korea where 676 exhibitions from 35 countries participated in the previous year. During the exhibition, the participating companies will be given an opportunity not only to showcase their products but also to build business networks with partners from Korea and abroad. Prior to the exhibition, the ASEAN-Korea Business Seminar on Game Industry will be held on 13 November to enhance understanding of the participants on market access strategy tailored to the Korean market.
The G-STAR is the third event of the ASEAN Trade Fair organized by the ASEAN-Korea Centre. With an aim to contribute to the Korean government’s goal of bringing ASEAN-Korea trade volume to 200 billion USD by 2020, the ASEAN-Korea Centre has been organizing the ASEAN Trade Fair 2018 in the sectors of seafood in March, furniture in May, and game in November. Held for five-consecutive years, the exhibition at G-STAR has served as a venue for ASEAN and Korea to enhance their cooperation in the digital industry in the age of fourth industrial revolution.
