ASEAN Trade Fair to showcase diverse ASEAN furniture and interior products

- ASEAN-Korea Centre to hold the ‘ASEAN Trade Fair 2018: Feel ASEAN Comfort’ to display wide-ranging furniture and interior products from 7 ASEAN countries in conjunction with the Korea International Furniture & Interior Fair (29 Aug-2 Sept, KINTEX, Gyeonggi) -

Gyeonggi, Korea – The ASEAN-Korea Centre (Secretary General Lee Hyuk) will organize the ‘ASEAN Trade Fair’ from 29 August to 2 September 2018 at KINTEX Exhibition Center I, Hall 2 in Ilsan, Gyeonggi Province. The Fair, which will be held in conjunction with the ‘Korea International Furniture & Interior Fair (KOFURN),’ aims to introduce the renowned hardwood furniture and modern interior products of 60 companies from seven ASEAN countries, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. The Fair is also expected to provide a venue for ASEAN exporters to understand the Korean furniture market trends and explore business opportunities with Korean and international buyers.

Lee Hyuk, Secretary General of the ASEAN-Korea Centre, said, “Furniture and interior products from ASEAN are in high demand in Korea recently because consumers have trust in the quality and design of products from countries like Indonesia and Vietnam. In particular, low and middle priced furniture, offering a high degree of practicality and convenience, is gaining popularity amid the increasing number of one-person households. In this respect, ASEAN furniture is expected to make headway into the Korean market more rapidly. With such trend and needs from ASEAN in mind, the ASEAN-Korea Centre has decided to hold the Fair again this year since the last time it took in 2013 and 2014. I hope that the upcoming event will serve as a momentum to introduce ASEAN furniture and interior products among the wider public and to achieve tangible results from the business meetings between ASEAN exporters and Korean buyers.”

During the five-day exhibition, the Fair is expected to showcase furniture mainly made from teak (Indonesia); furniture with modern design made from oak and walnut (Malaysia); furniture made from natural handmade rattan and bamboo, as well as other items like baskets (Myanmar); handcrafted carpets made from natural Abaca fibers and furniture made with environmental materials like rattan and bamboo (Philippines); office furniture such as height adjustable desks and high-quality hardwood furniture (Singapore); 100% natural latex pillows and furniture mainly made from rubber tree and teak (Thailand); and furniture with modern, delicate design mainly made from hardwoods (Vietnam).

Moreover, ASEAN exporters will conduct tailor-made one-on-one business meetings with Korean and international buyers to expand business networks. In addition, they are planned to visit the InArt Square, an exhibition center for Korea’s leading hardwood furniture brand called ‘InArt’; furniture stores at Yongsan I’Park Mall Living Park; and the Kofurn Mall, a multi-brand retail store set up by KOFURN.
