ASEAN-Korea Centre launches the ASEAN-Korea Journal to connect peoples of ASEAN and Korea

- Marking the 30th Anniversary of ASEAN-Korea relations and the organization’s 10th Anniversary, the biannual publication to deepen mutual understanding of the peoples of both regions -


Seoul, Republic of Korea - The ASEAN-Korea Centre (Secretary General Lee Hyuk) publishes the inaugural issue of the ASEAN-Korea Journal on 23 May, in celebration of the 30th Anniversary of the ASEAN-ROK Dialogue Relations and the 10th Anniversary of its establishment. The Journal is set to be published annually, providing a comprehensive collection of the most up-to-date information on ASEAN and ASEAN-Korea relations both in English and Korean. The topics that are covered include: △‘ASEAN Sketch in Korea’ – stories of ASEAN community in Korea; △‘ASEAN Culture Stories’ – introduction of famous national festivals of the ASEAN Member States; △‘Cartoon of ASEAN Recipes’ – showing cooking instructions of popular ASEAN food; △‘ASEAN Focus’ – in-depth articles by renowned academics and professional writers on the featured topic, and △‘ASEAN Updates’ – latest information on trade, investment, culture, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.


Secretary General Lee Hyuk noted that, “Marking the 30th Anniversary of the ASEAN-ROK Dialogue Relations, the ASEAN-ROK Commemorative Summit will be held in November, Busan, Korea. Against this backdrop, Korea has seen the ever-higher interests in and demands for the quality information on ASEAN among its peoples. I hope the ASEAN-Korea Journal, founded as a cornerstone for creating ASEAN-Korea future community and deepening mutual understanding between peoples of ASEAN and Korea, will promote an ever more connected partnership and lay out visions for the prosperous future.


With the main theme of ‘Korean Wave in ASEAN and ASEAN Wave in Korea’, the inaugural issue also includes a Special Contribution by H.E. Dato Lim Jock Hoi, Secretary General of ASEAN as well as congratulatory remarks by H.E. Kang Kyung-wha, Foreign Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Korea; H.E. Don Pramudwinai, Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand (2019 ASEAN Chair); H.E. Chen Dehai, Secretary General of the ASEAN-China Centre; H.E. Masataka Fujita, Secretary General of the ASEAN-Japan Centre.
