Seoul, Korea - The ASEAN-Korea Centre (Secretary General Kim Hae-yong) kicks off the second season of the < ASEAN Issue >, the YouTube interview series featuring a variety of topics ranging from culture and history to economies and industries of ASEAN and ASEAN-Korea relations.
The first episode, scheduled to be released on June 11 on the Centre’s official YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/akcsns), will delve deep into cultures of ASEAN through the Disney film, “Raya and the Last Dragon”. On the episode, pop columnist Kim Tae-hoon and famous movie YouTuber with 1.2 million subscribers Kim Si-seon will introduce cultural backgrounds of ASEAN hidden in the movie such as the Raya’s weapon inspired by the Indonesian/Malaysian sword Keris, fighting styles based on various Southeast Asian martial arts, and a Tom Yum-like soup symbolizing harmony, a key message of the movie.
Secretary General Kim Hae-yong noted that, “The ASEAN Issue, first launched last year, significantly contributed to deepening the public understanding on the on-going ASEAN-Korea partnership on one of the most widely used social media platform, YouTube, through interviews with a startup accelerator, a CEO of a food-tech startup venturing into Vietnam, a Cambodia-born billiards champion, K-Pop idols from Thailand, and a producer of a mega-hit TV show.” “The second season will feature more in-depth information and messages by shedding light on cultures, history, arts, and industries of ASEAN and future vision for ASEAN-Korea cooperation, while offering easy and fun content compelling to more YouTube users.”
Starting from June 11, the ASEAN Issue series will be released on the ASEAN-Korea Centre’s YouTube channel on a monthly/bi-monthly basis.
