ASEAN content companies to seek business opportunities in Korea
- The ASEAN-Korea Centre invites ASEAN content companies to the largest content B2B event in Korea -
Seoul, Korea - The ASEAN-Korea Centre (Secretary General Kim Hae-yong) will organize the ‘ASEAN-Korea Content Matchmaking Program’ on July 12-30, 2021 in conjunction with the ‘Seoul Promotion Plan (SPP) 2021’, one of the largest content B2B markets in Korea. This is the second time the Centre is co-organizing the program with the Seoul Business Agency (SBA), aiming to support business cooperation between ASEAN and Korea in the content sector including animation, webtoon, and character design.
Building on the success of last year’s program where 100 ASEAN companies conducted around 600 virtual meetings, this year, around 120 content companies from ASEAN Member States are expected to meet with their Korean counterparts through online business meetings. Additional information on content industry and market in four ASEAN countries ? Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, and Myanmar ? as well as products of participating ASEAN companies will be showcased on the official website of the SPP (http://www.spp.kr) and the Centre’s YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/akcsns).
The sudden surge in online content consumption during the COVID-19 pandemic has led many home-grown content companies in the ASEAN region to grow and expand into the global market. Many are seeking cooperation with Korean content companies given the high popularity of Korean cultural content in Southeast Asia. In this regard, the ASEAN-Korea Centre’s “ASEAN-Korea Contents Matchmaking Program” has become an important platform in connecting companies from the two regions to build network and explore cooperation. In fact, last year, the program succeeded in materializing two MOUs between Indonesian and Korean companies for trade and co-production.
