*The ASEAN-Korea Centre has been organizing the “ASEAN-Korea Tourism Capacity Building Workshop’ in ASEAN member states since 2009 with the objective to enhance tourism competitiveness of ASEAN and further develop the capacity of the ASEAN tourism sector.
The ASEAN-Korea Tourism Capacity Building Workshop aims to discuss approaches to develop sustainable tourism products to bolster the Laos tourism industry, which has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as to enhance understanding on digital marketing strategies and tourism products to entice Korean tourists. Representatives from the Korea Tourism Organization, Hanyang University Tourism Department, and hospitality tech startup ONDA will participate as speakers to present the travel trends of Koreans, sustainable tourism development, and digital marketing strategies. The speakers will also introduce successful case studies of digital tourism marketing and private sector cooperations that can be applicable to the tourism industry in Lao PDR.
Secretary General Kim Hae-yong of the ASEAN-Korea Centre stated that “As tourism revitalizes after COVID-19, 1.5 million tourists are expected to visit Luang Prabang, the UNESCO world heritage city, this year. It is with great expectations that this workshop can highlight once again the beauty of this region and bolster cooperation between Korea and Lao PDR in the tourism sector.”
