Accelerating ASEAN-Korea Partnership in e-mobility

The ASEAN-Korea Centre (Secretary-General Kim Hae-yong) and the Global Electric Vehicle Association Network (GEAN) will jointly organize the 6th ASEAN-Korea EV Forum on 3 May 2023 at the Halla A of the International Convention Center (ICC) in Jeju. The Forum will also be available via live stream through the ASEAN-Korea Centre’s YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/akcsns). Furthermore, the ASEAN-Korea Centre will open an exhibition booth during the 10th International Electric Vehicle Expo (IEVE).
The Forum has been a platform for discussing policies and business prospects for electric vehicles (EV) between ASEAN and Korea since 2018. The ASEAN-Korea Centre aims to share policies and opportunities in the burgeoning EV industry and e-mobility sector, reaffirming efforts for a stronger partnership between Korea and ASEAN, by co-organizing this forum with GEAN for the first time. The keynote presentation will be made by Mr. Edmund Araga, President of the Asian Federation of EV Associations (AFEVA) who will share on the growing significance of the EV industry in ASEAN and the status as well as prospects for ASEAN-Korea cooperation in the sector. The first session of the Forum will share on the latest policy updates with experts from organizations such as the Korea Electric Vehicle Association (KEVA), Korea Trade- Investment Promotion Agency(KOTRA) and the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam in Korea. In the second session, speakers from the EV Associations of Malaysia and Thailand along with business leaders of Korean companies will discuss business opportunities in the respective EV markets.
Under the initiative to promote trade in innovative sectors, the ASEAN-Korea Centre has been exploring new areas for enhancing ASEAN-Korea cooperation. Secretary General Kim Hae-yong conveyed his anticipation toward “a strengthened partnership of ASEAN and Korea in the promising e-mobility sector through the successful hosting of the ASEAN-Korea EV Forum and participation in the 10th IEVE.”
