- Investment Promotion Seminar on Water (21 September, Gyeongju, Korea) –
- Companies from Singapore and Korea to seek cooperation through business meetings -

Seoul, Korea - The ASEAN-Korea Centre will conduct the Investment Promotion Seminar on Water on 21 September 2017 at Hwabaek International Convention Center (HICO), Gyeongju, Korea. Held in cooperation with Asia Water Council (AWC), Singapore Public Utility Board (PUB), International Enterprise Singapore (IE Singapore), the seminar primarily aims to provide around 50 Korean business persons with updates on water-related investments and business opportunities through presentations by representatives from the Singapore government and major water services corporations.

The seminar will feature two insightful sessions on water industry. During Session I, entitled ‘Overview and Prospects of Singapore and Korea’s Water Industry’, representatives from the Singapore Public Utility Board (PUB), Korea Water and Wastewater works Association (KWWA), and K-water will give an overview as well as discuss developments in the water industry of the two countries. Under the title of ‘Business Opportunities of Singapore and Korea’s Water Industry’, Session II will include a comprehensive introduction to major water-related projects in Singapore, and cover potential areas of cooperation with Korea. The session will be followed by business meetings among Singapore’s water-related companies and Korean companies seeking business opportunities.

Kim Young-sun, Secretary General of the ASEAN-Korea Centre, noted that, “The global water market is an area with so much potential, considering the recent global climate change and pollution of the environment. Combining the experience, technology, and capital of Singapore and Korea is expected to produce synergy effects in the industry.”

Prior to the seminar, the Singaporean representatives will be offered with an opportunity to visit Jung-lang Water Management Center in Seoul and GI-LID Center in Pusan National University on 19-20 September to obtain a deeper understanding of Korea’s cutting edge facilities for water reuse and sustainable city construction.

The Investment Promotion Seminar will be held in conjunction with the 1st Asia International Water Week (AIWW), which is to take place on 20-23 September in Gyeongju. The ASEAN-Korea Centre plans to sign a MOU with Asia Water Council (AWC), a co-host of AIWW, on 20 September to expand interaction and cooperation between ASEAN and Korea in water industry.
