ASEAN and Korean youth boasted short films at the Film Festival in Seoul
- 13 colorful films by the ASEAN-Korean youth presented at Lotte Cinema World Tower -
Seoul, Korea - The ASEAN-Korea Centre (Secretary General Kim Young-sun) organized the ASEAN-Korea Youth Short Film Festival on 28 October 2017 at Lotte Cinema Lotte World Tower under the theme of “Enhancing Mutual Understanding, Creating Harmony.” 5 winners of a film competition among the youth of ASEAN and Korea, which was conducted by the ASEAN-Korea Centre from 1 August to 24 September were awarded. ASEAN Ambassadors and diplomatic envoys, ASEAN students in Korea, as well as the general public of Korea enjoyed a total of 13 ASEAN films including 5 winning entries, 7 ASEAN films provided by the ASEAN Secretariat and the ASEAN Foundation, and a full-length film entitled
Kim Young-sun, Secretary General of the ASEAN-Korea Centre noted that, “Movies allow us to embrace and understand cultural backgrounds of the film maker with an open mind. Thus, I believe this Film Festival would serve as a meaningful platform for the general public in Korea to better understand ASEAN through the films. As this year’s festival was able to reach wider audiences in ASEAN through cooperation, I hope the event also contributed to raising awareness on ASEAN and ASEAN-Korea relations among the ASEAN-Korean youth and nurturing talent of young film makers.”

The ASEAN-Korea Short Film Festival has been carried out as part of the ASEAN Youth Nights, organized by the ASEAN-Korea Centre and the ASEAN Youth Network in Korea (AYNK) since 2015. This year’s event was held the largest of its kind in cooperation with the ASEAN Secretariat and the ASEAN Foundation as well as sponsorship from the Lotte Cinema and the Lotte Entertainment.
