ASEAN Talents to Gather for ‘Job Fair for Foreign Residents’ 2019 at COEX in Seoul
- ASEAN-Korea Centre to Offer ASEAN Youth Career Mentorship and
Guidance on the Assistance Program for ASEAN Students (9.18, COEX Hall C) -
The ASEAN-Korea Centre (Secretary General Lee Hyuk) will hold the ‘ASEAN Youth Career Mentorship’ on 18 September from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at COEX Hall C on the sideline of the ‘Job Fair for Foreign Residents 2019’, hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and organized by Seoul Global Business Center and Seoul Business Agency.
ASEAN students in search of jobs will be able to receive support at the ‘ASEAN Youth Career Mentorship’ booth where career consultants will provide resume review service as well as interview simulations. Also, those ASEAN nationals who are employed in Korean companies will join the program to provide mentorship and share experience and know-how on successful job search strategies.
There will also be a special lecture on Korean Work Visa from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the COEX Conference Room 307BC. Mr. Simon D. Lee, attorney-at-law at the Pureum Law Office will talk about visa, immigration and related legal matters including the types of Korean work visas and their requirements to help ASEAN students better understand these issues.
Lee Hyuk, Secretary General of ASEAN-Korea Centre commented “Since the launch of the New Southern Policy, people-to-people exchanges have greatly increased in tandem with the growing economic partnership. Following this trend, the number of ASEAN students in Korea has also increased from 77 in 1990 to 4,781 in 2010 and 58,696 in 2018. Also, as more and more Korean companies invest in ASEAN countries, there are also prospects for a greater demand of workforce who can speak Korean and who have a good understanding of Korea. In this regard I hope that this year’s ‘ASEAN Youth Career Mentorship’ will be an occasion for ASEAN students to work in Korean companies to bridge the two regions, and for Korean companies with plans to invest in ASEAN to hire talented ASEAN youth.
Seventy-seven Korean and foreign corporations are participating at this year’s ‘Job Fair for Foreign Residents 2019’. Specifically, the fair will attract companies from IT(31), Marketing(27), Customer Service(24), Management(10), Trade and Investment (9), Manufacturing(6), Education(5), and R&D(3) sectors.
